LISA WILLIAMS and BRIAN SMITH

Our featured guests at this last Live Poets gathering for 2024, Lisa Williams and Brian Smith, reside in Onekaka and bring their own take on poetry with vocal and guitar.

Lisa says she began writing poetry as a child and then started putting music around the words as a teenager learning guitar. Her songs and words tackle a range of topics, personal, environmental, and world issues.

Lisa happily turns her hand to folk, rock, blues and country, aided by Brian whose lead guitar playing creates emotive riffs that give added power to the songs.

Brian began playing lead guitar in 2010 when he moved to Onekaka and was inspired by musicians playing at the Mussel Inn. He has since played in various bands around Golden Bay, Matrix, Pulp Function & The Forge.

Lisa’s first CD ‘Timeless’, largely about travelling the roads of New Zealand, was released in 2015 while supporting Hollie Smith at The Mussel Inn.
