CRUMB #27

THE WORD

MID WINTER MONTH OF JULY

At the end of July we say goodbye for a while to the Dangerous Microphone as the Kitchen wipes down the pizza ovens for the winter break. So let’s make the most of these last four sessions of the Dangerous Microphone and the opportunity they give us to gather at the Dangerous Kitchen to meet and greet and support while we enjoy the songs and poems and stories.

In gathering together we are holding one another in a metaphorical warm embrace, passing warmth across the room. We gather not just for ourselves but for those around us. Encouragement and banter is the name of the game. it’s called community.
Coming up this month we have one great gathering at NgAng’s Gallery in Collingwood with a pot luck feast and an open mic session; another great gathering at the Mussel Inn and the third fourth, fifth and sixth great gatherings at the Dangerous Kitchen. It would be so good to see you at one of these gatherings if you can make it.
All the details on the following pages along with listings for gigs from Craig Denham, The Hobnail Trio and Clayton Taylor & Mark Raffills. Have a browse. Mark some dates in you diary. Enjoy the mid-winter month of July – it is going to to be a good one!

Peace

THIS WINTER MONTH

It is the last month before those other months
waiting in the wings just to follow on
the sun lies low in the fog-bound sky
and sighs as it sings a winter’s song.

To the ocean the river runs cold and swift
until it is lost and runs this way no more
and the rocks and mud rest lonely
in a blanket of time that is lost to the shore

It is warmth in which we wrap ourselves
we sit at fireside in the sweet embrace
that holds the eye to say goodby and
leaves not a moment in this empty place.

OPEN MICROPHONE

POT LUCK FEAST & MOONSHINE ON THE MICROPHONE

This Thursday 4 July, come on down to NgAng’s Gallery in Collingwood and enjoy a pot luck feast with a little gathering of friends and like-minds and poets and singers and tellers of stories ! Bring some food for the feast.

Last month a very successful fund-raiser for Mama Love was had. It worked so well with the open mic and all involved worked hard to make it a night of good crac and bonhomie.

This month we are having A POT LUCK FEAST from 6.00pm.Bring your food to share. There are ovens and stove tops to warm what you bring.

THE OPEN MIC SESSION will start after the feast around 7.30-ish. Its going to be a great one – food, poems, songs, and a good old natter! What more could you want.??

ACID ON THE MICROPHONE

OPEN MICROPHONE

the dangerous microphone

For two years the Dangerous Microphone has been gracing the fireside at the Dangerous Kitchen. And this month of July sees four sessions of the open mic event before the winter break closes the door for two months. So let’s crank up July and make the most of these last four sessions – 3, 10, 17 and 24 July.

Performers need an audience to love and support them; an audience need performers to love and support them back. Let’s see how it works in July. Great pizzas, fine ales and stunning service, excellent poems and heart-stirring songs all make for the best night out in town. But don’t take it for granted; don’t let it slip away, give it everything it deserves!

THE DANGEROUS MICROPHONE
WEDNESDAY 3, 10, 17 AND 24 JULY.
SIGN UP TO PERFORM FROM 5.00PM

It will start up again on Wednesday 2 October.
